Nunziato the candidate
Holden introduced JPCA member and local merchant Tony Nunziato as a candidate for Marge Markey's seat in the 30th Assembly District.
If elected, the business owner assured community members that the Maspeth Bypass plan would be first and foremost among his objectives.
The undertaking involves diverting trucks off residential portions of Grand Avenue and through industrial sections of West Maspeth.
The preponderance of trucks, he said, is spewing diesel fuel and harming the air quality of the neighborhood.
When speaking of Markey, Holden made no bones about what he claimed to be her lack of visibility throughout her district.
"She does nothing," he observed. "We deserve representation. If we don't get [it], we will lose our community. We need our elected officials to be active.
