About Tony Nunziato

Above: The Nunziato Family celebrates the opening of Tony's campaign office.

Born and raised in Woodside, Queens, Tony Nunziato graduated from St. Sebastian catholic elementary school and Power Memorial Academy. He went on to study business at St. John’s University and at the age of 24, became a partner in a Manhattan floral business. Some of Tony’s early clients included Frank Sinatra, Barry Manilow, and Luciano Pavarotti.

After marrying the former Dolores Giannone, Tony moved to the neighboring community of Maspeth and started his own small business, Enchanted Florist & Greenhouse, LLC. For more than a quarter-century, Tony Nunziato has distinguished himself as a business, civic and community advocate.

A truly dedicated community activist, Tony has built a reputation for taking action when necessary, and getting results. He has an unparalleled record of accomplishments and a genuine concern for others.

The florist turned politician not only has a green thumb, but also believes in a green environment. During his tenure on Queens Community Board #5, Tony served as Chair of the Environmental Committee and was instrumental in the remediation of the old contaminated Phelps Dodge site in West Maspeth. Thanks to his efforts, a record $18 million dollars was secured to clean up the once hazardous location.

Working with his close friend and mentor, the late Frank Principe, Tony helped develop the Grand Avenue Truck Bypass Plan to alleviate traffic congestion along Grand Avenue. He was also at the forefront of the fight against the Cross Harbor Tunnel project which would have allowed thousands of unwanted diesel trucks to drive through residential streets and neighborhoods.

Tony is fighting for a better quality-of-life for our children and grandchildren. A vocal critic of overdevelopment, and illegal construction, Tony Nunziato has called on city and state agencies to stop the destruction of our neighborhoods. His passion for preservation also led him to join the fight to save St. Saviour’s Church in Maspeth.

A proud member of many charitable, fraternal, and community organizations, Tony Nunziato has served as Past-President of both Maspeth Town Hall and the Maspeth Kiwanis Club. He also served as Vice-President of the Maspeth Chamber of Commerce, Chair of the Maspeth-Middle Village Task Force, and co-founder of the Newtown Historical Society. He is also proud to be a member of the the following organizations: Queensboro UNICO, Juniper Park Civic Association, Knights of Columbus, Loyal Order of Moose and the Veterans of the Ninth Regiment (honorary member).

Tony currently resides in Maspeth with his wife of 27 years, Dolores, and their children, Anthony, Alicia and Andrea.

Tony Nunziato will appear on the Republican, Conservative and Independence Party lines this November 2nd.
